Losing weight and getting fit requires discipline in both your activity level and in what you eat. Deprivation, however, typically backfires. And so while you are on a diet, seek out low calorie desserts. To completely deny yourself of desserts and sweets will leave you wanting them more, most likely. So instead, indulge as you can in low calorie desserts and you will probably feel more satisfied.
Add oranges, honey, and mint to plain Greek yogurt for a flavorful, low calorie, and healthy dessert. Diet Jell-O with fruit can be a great end of the day treat; you can even add whipped topping.
Approaching your diet from a balanced viewpoint rather than such a radical stance that you cannot sustain it for an extended period of time just makes more sense. So, in the area of desserts, perhaps instead of completely cutting them out for good, you can find recipes and ways to compromise that will allow you to enjoy your treats in a balanced manner and still lose weight.
Many people enjoy chocolate. If you’d like to enjoy chocolate still without feeling guilty, look for very dark (black or bitter) chocolate. Then you are consuming much more cocoa butter, less calories, and much less fat than milk chocolate.
Also, if you go out do dinner, try saving room for dessert at home. By preparing your desserts at home, you can control how they are prepared and how many calories they contain. Restaurants have a habit of over serving. One great idea is to grab a graham cracker crust and fill it with your favorite flavor of yogurt. Yum! And if you made it before you went out for dinner, it will be waiting for you in your refrigerator when you get back.
If you are out to dinner and it seems awkward to not order dessert, lean towards dessert options with fruit in them rather than caramel, chocolate, or cream. You will probably fare on the lighter end of the calorie scale with a fruity choice, and you’ll feel satisfied rather than deprived.
You can have your low calorie dessert and eat it too!
